The University of Technology has achieved a significant accomplishment by securing second place in the University Creativity and Sustainability Challenge Competition, held under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, and with the supervision and support of the President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghabban.

The Student Activities Department, specifically the Scouting Activities Division, from the University of Technology participated in this national competition, organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research/Supervisory and Scientific Evaluation Apparatus/Student Activities Department. The competition spanned from October 20, 2024, to January 20, 2024.

The University of Technology team was awarded second place among 45 public and private universities and colleges at the University of Basra from February 23 to 27, 2025. This national-level competition showcased projects and activities related to the ten axes defined by the ministry. The event aimed to promote a culture of sustainability and creativity and included various segments and scouting activities.

The scouting team from the University of Technology comprised:

  • Scouting Leader Asst. Prof. Dr. Mona Taha Idris / Head of the Scouting Division.
  • Asst. Eng. Hind Zuhair Khalil / Control and Systems Engineering Department / Supervisor.
  • Student Youssef Mahmoud Farhan / Computer Engineering / Third Stage.
  • Student Hasanein Tayseer Ali / Computer Engineering / Second Stage.
  • Student Azal Emad Hamdi / Control and Systems Engineering / Fourth Stage.
  • Student Ali Qutaiba Dawood / Control and Systems Engineering / Second Stage.
  • Student Essam Bashar Essam / Control and Systems Engineering / Second Stage.

The symposium aimed to disseminate culture, and the symposium witnessed many paragraphs and scouting activities.

 

 

 

 

 

In the final preparations for the launch of the fourteenth edition of the International Ambassador Competition for Arabic Calligraphy, and with the active participation of Professor Ali Atiya, a member of the International Arbitration Committee for Arabic Calligraphy and a faculty member in the Artistic Activities Division of the Student Activities Department, the arbitration committee, which includes a selection of calligraphers from inside and outside Iraq, continues its work to select distinguished artworks from among 200 submitted pieces by 150 participants representing 8 countries.

With the presence of the head of the Iraqi Calligraphers Association and his deputy as guests of honor, the screening process is witnessing high accuracy in evaluating the works, which vary between Kufic, Thuluth, Naskh, Jali Diwani, Ta'liq, and Ruq'ah scripts, to ensure the selection of the most deserving works for the top positions, in addition to the paintings that will receive honorary and encouragement awards.

The arbitration is conducted under the supervision of the Arabic Calligraphy Division in the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the Great Mosque of Kufa, which affirms its commitment to high artistic standards to ensure a level befitting the competition's status as one of the most prominent global events in the art of Arabic

 

 

 

 

 

University of Technology successfully concluded its annual football tournament on Sunday, December 15, 2024. The event, which was graced by the presence of the University President, Professor Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghabban, along with the Assistant President for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Farhad Mohammed Osman, and heads of various departments, saw a spirited participation from 16 teams.

The Department of Biomedical Sciences emerged victorious, clinching the championship title after a hard-fought final match against the Department of Electromechanical Engineering, winning by a score of 2-1. The University President personally presented the trophies and awards to the winning teams: the Department of Biomedical Sciences (first place), the Department of Electromechanical Engineering (second place), and a shared third-place position between the Departments of Electrical Engineering and Chemical Engineering.

The closing ceremony also featured the distribution of awards for winners of other university tournaments, including badminton, table tennis, and chess.

 

 

Amidst an atmosphere of enthusiasm and fair competition, the Sports Department of the Student Activities Division at the University of Technology announced the launch of the university's badminton tournament. The tournament aims to encourage students to engage in sports and foster a sense of teamwork and belonging to the university. Fourteen male students and sixteen female students will participate in the tournament, which is supported and sponsored by the esteemed University President, Professor Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghaban, in the presence of the esteemed Administrative Assistant to the University President, Dr. Ferhad Mohammed Osman, and the esteemed Director of the Student Activities Department, Dr. Ameen Dhanoun Ahmed.
