Under the esteemed patronage of the University President, Professor Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghabban, and in the presence of the esteemed Administrative Assistant to the University President, Professor Dr. Farhad Mohammed Osman, the football season for the academic year 2024-2025 at the University of Technology was officially opened at a ceremony held at University Stadium. The ceremony featured a spectacular showcase of teams from various scientific and engineering departments participating in the tournament. Each team presented a distinctive athletic display, reflecting their readiness for the competition. The event also included the recitation of the sports oath, signifying the students' commitment to the spirit of fair play.

In a noble gesture, a segment was dedicated to honoring the memory of the martyrs and the spirit of the student champion, Ibrahim Mohammed, one of the university's heroes in tennis and badminton. A bouquet was presented to the University President in recognition of the achievements of the university's champions in Iraqi university chess and swimming tournaments.

Following the ceremony, the first match of the tournament commenced between the teams of the Petroleum and Gas Engineering Department and the Electromechanical Engineering Department. The match witnessed fierce competition between the two teams, culminating in a narrow victory for the Petroleum and Gas Engineering team with a single goal.

The primary objective of this football season is to foster a spirit of healthy competition among students, encourage them to engage in sports and enhance their physical and mental abilities. Additionally, it aims to strengthen the sense of belonging to the university and unify the student body.

 

 

 

University of Technology has achieved a remarkable feat in the Iraqi Universities Swimming Championship, where 51 Iraqi universities participated. The university garnered a collection of medals.

The university secured second place overall in the championship, following Baghdad University which clinched the first place. Additionally, the university achieved second place in the relay race (postal) and the 100-meter freestyle.

On the individual level, several of the university's swimmers excelled. Hassan Ali Khalil from the College of Communications Engineering claimed first place in both the 50-meter backstroke and the 100-meter backstroke. Meanwhile, Ali Maher from the College of Civil Engineering secured first place in the 50-meter freestyle and second place in the 100-meter freestyle.

This achievement is a result of the significant efforts exerted by the technical and administrative staff of the university's swimming team, led by the delegation head, Mr. Abdullah Adnan, and the coach, Mr. Mustafa Mahdi Salman.

 

 

 

 

 

Under the guidance of the President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghabban, and the slogan "With a Drop of Your Blood, You Save a Life," the Student Activities Department at the University of Technology, in collaboration with various engineering departments such as Electrical, Petroleum and Gas, Production and Metallurgical Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering, as well as the university's health center, organized a blood donation campaign to support and provide relief to our brothers and sisters in Lebanon and Gaza. The campaign was held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, in the Student Activaities Department's physical fitness hall.

The event was attended by the University President, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghabban, the President's Administrative Assistant, Prof. Dr. Farhad Muhammad Usman, and the Director of the Diwan Affairs Department, Eng. Zaid Riyad Al-Anbari. After the campaign, the University President presented an excellence award to the blood bank staff to recognize their efforts and dedication in providing this humanitarian service. He also expressed his gratitude for the active participation of faculty, staff, and students in the blood donation campaign. The Director of Student Activaities, Assistant Professor Dr. Amin Dhanoon, confirmed that the campaign witnessed good participation, with 102 faculty, staff, and students donating blood. He also noted that all necessary supplies and facilities were provided to facilitate the donation process, expressing his gratitude to all who contributed to this charitable work.

This event reflects the spirit of cooperation and community service that characterizes the University of Technology and reinforces the values of humanity and solidarity among members of the university community.
